Finding Uncle Newton

After moving in with her Uncle Isaac Newton, teen-aged Catherine soon discovers what most people already knew—he was brilliant at sorting out God’s laws of nature. But with his nose always in his studies, whether about the forces of gravity or the Bible, he was not so adept at a kindred relationship with her. She determines she must search elsewhere for what she craved—and finds the energy and connection in a local London coffeehouse, where she meets prospective boyfriend John.

Challenged by his new job as Warden of the Mint, Isaac realizes Catherine can contribute as a spy at the coffeehouse, as he tries to stop rampant counterfeiters such as the clever and devious William Chaloner. Catherine relishes the opportunity to bond as they work together, but faces a setback. Sadly, a case of the smallpox sends her packing to the countryside where she must isolate.
